The coffee shop in town

Last Saturday, before I got sick, I went for a another jog. I was faster this time so I go to do some stretching with Songjoo and Madhukar.

After class we went to the coffee shop on Rajpur road where we sat for a good hour playing yahtzee on my kindle because it was POURING rain. Like buckets of water were being dumped on our heads. It is truly the monsoon season here.

This is Matthew, he's from America also although he's an army brat so he's really from all over. He taught English in South India for four years about ten years ago. But they don't speak Hindi in the south so he's here learning Hindi as well. He doesn't like to smile for the camera, can you tell?

Me drinking a "mojito" I think it was basically really sweet lemonade although the picture showed mint and lime in the glass, there was none to be had in the actual glass. It was kind of nasty, truth be told.

This is Beamish. He's from South India and he's here learning English and Hindi. Although his Hindi is far more advanced than mine or Matthew's so he's in a different class.

When it finally slowed to a drizzle we headed out towards the Paltan Bazaar which is an outdoor market. There are lots of shops that have insides, but they're tiny so wares are kind of all over the place.

Mathew wanted to find a Khadi shop to buy a towel and some shirts. Khadi is hand woven cloth made here in India. It's incredibly inexpensive and because it's hand woven, it's nice and cool.
The Khadi shop

So he bought a towel and a lungy (a big piece of material that men wear wrapped around their waist). I bought a lungy that I'm using a bed sheet. It's cooler than the one that's on my bed. Matthew swore the towels were super absorbent so he wouldn't need a plain old terry cloth towel.

He's been wrong about a number of things including his plan to put some sort of homeopathic crap on his neck where his backpack had rubbed the skin raw and his theory that Mangos are in season more than one time in the year.

Now he has a big towel that he bought from the equivalent of Wal-Mart and I take most of the things he says with a grain of salt.

:)
