Navila's found

For those of you who've been wondering (and praying), Navila has been found and is now with her mother presumably headed back to Japan. I appreciate everyone who sent positive thoughts and prayers her way.

It sucks to be 15. I do remember that.

On a lighter note, today was teacher appreciation day. Apparently this is taken VERY seriously here. There was a huge box of gifts in the back of Madhukar's car today that I think was headed for his children's schools.

We had a party complete with cake, soda, chips, and something called a "burger" but which contains no meat. It's really just some sort of vegetable patty on a bun. But then it turned into a talent show and everyone got up and sang or danced or recited a poem. So apparently, despite the lake of Karaoke bars here, people still enjoy getting up and performing. I sang the first verse and chorus of Adele's "Someone Like You". It's funny because I was way more nervous getting up and singing in front of that small class then I was the couple of times I've sung with my brother Thomas at ThaiStar. I think it's because I didn't have a microphone... what the heck are you supposed to do with your hands?!!

But it was still fun.

Wish I'd had my camera. I would have taken some pictures.

But I do have one picture. I saw this little guy in the kitchen the other morning. He promptly ran behind the refrigerator which is why this picture looks upside down.

I think he was the same mouse that Navila saw a couple of weeks ago.

Since everything is open to the outside, I suppose it's just the way of nature that there will be mice and other things. Quite frankly I'd prefer a mouse even if it nibbles on some of my clothes to a snake.

I guess as long as it's not carrying the hantavirus... or bedbugs. That would not be cool.

This morning I went walking at the FSI again. I've decided I need to give my knees a break. Bad knees run in my family - really, I'm not making that up to get out of jogging.

But it's been really clear today. No rain but that also means it's pretty hot too. But the clear weather means a better view so I took this shot as I was walking.
Not bad.
