One Gallon of Paint....

One gallon of paint can take quite a bit of time. The last time my parents painted their bedroom was approximately 15 years ago. At the time, it was probably the height of interior decorating, but an entire room painted sky blue with white sponge painting takes a while to paint over. Their plans to go out of town for a week coincided with my urge to surprise my Mom in a “While you were out” kind of way.

This took about a week to get everything done. I definitely had help. Daniel changed out the light plates and electrical plates. He also installed a new ceiling fan that he and Kimie picked out and bought. Sisters 1 and 4 helped paint, put furniture back and helped put up the curtains.



I want to draw your attention to the headboard peaking up from behind those beautiful pillows. That was a $15 find on Craigslist. Someone had started trying to refinish it so i sanded it down and painted it a lovely dark chocolate color.



I had almost a full gallon of brown paint leftover that went into the trunk of my car. Driving home after finishing this project, I made a sudden stop which apparently resulted in the almost full gallon of brown paint, falling over and the top popping off.



Cleaning up a gallon of paint from the back of a car takes several hours with a garden hose. But then it takes another two weeks to dry up the water and try to get the smell of mildew out of the car.

But Mom and Dad liked the new paint job on the room! Yay!
